The first one being professional in office care which involves your dental check up, cleaning, as well as any restorative work. The second one is oral hygiene instructions so that you can perform proper dental care at home.
Professional services
Once your teeth develop hard tartar build up (calculus) or become decayed, you will need professional treatment. our dentists can scale that build up off your teeth and fill in those cavities.
At home education

Post operative instructions:
You must wear the night guard as often as possible to protect your teeth. If you don't wear it, you won't be able to save them from further wear.
Our dentists can custom make one for you but we can't force you to wear it!
Caution: If you don't wear it every night or at least most nights, it may not fit later on if your teeth happen to drift or shift.

Does it stop you from grinding?
Unfortunately, wearing a night guard does not stop you from bruxism. Typically the reason you grind your teeth is because of stress.
However, what it will do is protect your teeth and preserve your smile by preventing the teeth from being worn down. You may also experience some jaw tension relief by wearing it.
Can I wear it every night?
Yes, it is recommended that you wear it each and every single night whenever possible. On the days that you don't wear it, you risk your teeth being chipped from the bruxing.
